You should be able to recover the data, though it might take a
relatively long time. ABTools should be able to do the recovery for
you. DiskSalv should also be able to recover the data. In either
case, IIRC, the data must be within the first 4 Gig of a drive, there
aren't any disk recovery tools yet for data above the 4 Gig barrier.

Depending on what is on that partition, you might just be better off
from a time point of view installing all the software from scratch,
unless you have a large amount of data (not programs) on the
partition.

Once you have recovered the data, you should think about moving all of
your browsers cache directories to a separate partition. Make it
relatively small, maybe 30 Meg per browser. You could, for instance,
call the partition Cache and then have sub-directories called IBCache,
V3Cache and AWCache.

This way, if you have another such crash, it won't take long for that
partition to autovalidate and if it won't autovalidate, it won't
really matter if you quickly reformat the partition. Just be sure to
backup your cookie files often, so that you don't lose many (if any)
settings (such as autologon, etc) that you might have for various web
pages.
